The Continental Roun’Top trash can is a round, LLDPE waste container with a self-closing door to contain odor and debris within the can and keep pests out, and it has a lid and a rigid plastic liner which are removable to allow the container to be emptied and cleaned. LLDPE (linear low-density polyethylene) resists chipping, cracking, denting, warping, and UV damage better than LDPE (low-density polyethylene). The trash can's metal-free construction helps make it safe for use in hospitals, prisons, and other secure areas. The trash can may also be used with poly-liners (sold separately), and features a key-way notch to keep poly-liners from bunching and slipping. The built-in lock ring allows the can to be secured with a lock (not included) to a building or another permanent structure for protection against theft and high winds. The trash is California State Fire Marshal (CSFM) approved and meets Factory Mutual (FM) 6921 to contain and extinguish fires.

Trash cans are used for the disposal and temporary storage of garbage. They are typically made of plastic or metal and sometimes have a top or lid to contain odors and waste. Certain garbage cans meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for the disposal of medical waste or National Sanitation Foundation/American National Standards Institute (NSF/ANSI) requirements for food handling and processing. Others include a lock to prevent unauthorized access, safeguard confidential materials, and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements. Waste bins can also be color-coded to facilitate the separation of recyclable waste, such as bottles, cans, paper, and general refuse. Ash/trash cans typically include an ash tray on top for cigarette disposal. Trash cans are used in virtually all commercial and industrial environments.

Continental manufactures plastic and metal products such as restroom supplies, buckets, refuse containers, carts, and trigger sprayers for the janitorial and food service industries. The company is headquartered in Bridgeton, MO.
